WHAT IS Tactics in the home?
This class is for anyone who wants to be safe in their home. There is no live fire training and you don't have to be physically fit to benefit from this course, though it certainly helps. This class is for those who recognize the danger criminals pose and understand that police are minutes away when seconds count.
This class will help you prevent, prepare and effectively and legally respond to a criminal invasion of your home.
You'll Learn:
-Legal aspects of the use of deadly force. (You might be surprised!)
-Home security to deter and detect a home invasion.
-Staging your home and having a plan.
-Options for home defense firearms and useful accessories you should have with your firearm.
-How to safely search your home.
-How to issue verbal commands and safely hold someone at gunpoint.
-Fighting mindset and command presence.
-What to tell 911 and how to interact with responding officers.
-Low light techniques and many more topics are addressed.
But knowing is not enough. We want to make sure you have the confidence to apply what you've learned. On the second day of class, you'll get the opportunity to apply the concepts and techniques you practiced on day one, in realistic scenarios.
A must for responsible gun owners. Marksmanship alone is not enough.

Paul Clark is a lifelong martial artist and shooter.
During his 10 years in Corrections, Paul helped design the Defensive Tactics program used by the West Virginia Division of Corrections and was a Senior Firearms Instructor. He is currently a full time teacher and teaches concealed carry 3 times a month in Cabela's and Sportsman's Warehouse stores throughout WV.

Larry Kearns began working as a Security Officer in 1992. In 1995 he transitioned into Corrections with the Wood County Sheriff Office. By 1997 Kearns was working as a Road Patrol Deputy Sheriff. He served with the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team from 2005 to 2014 as an entry team member and sniper. Kearns was promoted to Sergeant in 2011, and to Lieutenant in 2017 where he supervised Road Patrol and Detective units. He retired from the Sheriff Office in 2018.
Kearns became a certified law enforcement instructor in 2011. He continues to train Police, Corrections, and Security Officers for various agencies. Kearns maintains current instructor certifications for Handgun, Shotgun, Rifle, Submachine Gun, Subject Control, Impact Weapons, Edged Weapons, and Emergency Vehicle Operations.
Kearns is an accomplished Master Class competitive shooter. Kearns has been trained in various martial arts including Karate, Kung Fu, Jiu-jitsu, Judo, Escrima, and Kali. Kearns was named Wood County Sheriff Office Deputy of the Year in 2006.
